Is car advertising legitimate? How to tell
“Earn money with advertising on your car” is a sentence that also turns up in scams. Asking whether a provider is legitimate is therefore the first question people ask, and a fair one. Here are the marks you can check it against, and which of them you can look up about us.
Five things you can check
An imprint with a name and a registration number
Not just a contact form. Whoever stands behind an offer has to be named with company, address and the person representing it. A registration number can be looked up in the companies register.
Terms and a withdrawal notice that actually exist
Both are legally required towards consumers. If they are missing, or amount to two sentences, that is a finding in itself.
Prices visible before you click
What costs what, and for what exactly. An offer whose price only appears after you sign up has a reason for that.
No payment up front for a placement
Nobody should charge you for being considered for a campaign. That is the core of almost every scam in this market.
Numbers you can check, not round ones
“Up to” is a ceiling, not an income. Anyone promising a fixed monthly amount before a campaign even exists is promising something they cannot know.
Which of those you can look up about us
- The operator is AOC Digital Services Ltd., based in Manchester and registered at Companies House Cardiff under number 17258098. The address and the person representing the company are in the imprint.
- Terms and the withdrawal notice are there, linked in the footer of every page. Buying a Pro account asks you explicitly to waive the withdrawal right, rather than burying it in the terms.
- The prices are on the pricing page, without signing up. So is what free shows and what Pro unlocks.
- A placement costs you nothing with us. What is paid for is the Pro account, and that unlocks visibility, not a placement. The service fee for a placement that comes together is paid by the advertiser.
- The amounts on the earnings page are ceilings per surface. What a particular campaign pays is shown on that campaign, before you apply.
The scam that really is out there
The most common fraud in this market runs on overpayment. Someone contacts you, offers an advertising contract for your car, and sends an unsolicited cheque or transfer for too much. You are asked to forward the difference to a “wrapping company”. The payment bounces days later and the forwarded money is gone.
The rule against it is simple: anyone who sends you money so that you can forward money is defrauding you. No exceptions.
What we do not promise
- No guarantee that you will get a campaign. Whether your vehicle fits is the advertiser's decision, not ours.
- No fixed monthly amount. What it comes to depends on the campaign, the surfaces and the region.
- No preferential placement through Pro. Pro makes campaigns visible and lets you apply. It has no bearing on who gets picked.
See for yourself
Signing up and creating a vehicle profile cost nothing, and the prices are there beforehand.
